For the last 5 years, I saw similar patterns and common “red flags” among my clients – high fasting glucose levels, pre-diabetes, metabolic syndrome, high cholesterol, chronic inflammation, leaky gut, low-energy, autoimmune conditions and nutrient deficiencies. The on-going growing problem of lifestyle related chronic disease is shockingly real but also very misunderstood by the clients on how “they got there in the first place.”
I also quickly learned that the #1 reason most clients have a hard time sticking to new, healthy habits is that their social circle (spouse, children, friends, family) is not always on board. Adopting healthier habits are already hard enough and couple that with resistance from those around you, makes it twice as hard. I’m a mom and know the temptation of Goldfish and Oreos and the pressure of cooking more than one meal to please everyone at meal times…lol.
On a bigger scale, optimal health is more than just eating well. It’s about movement, mental health, environmental health, spiritual health and social health. This is when I started asking other wellness professionals (massage therapists, fitness pros, chiropractors, herbalists, healers, ect) if they had a program to help their clients improve their mood, energy and immunity by eating whole nourishing foods -and many of them said “no”. I wanted to create a network of wellness professionals where we could come together with our strengths to improve the lives of others without feeling out of our “scope of practice.”
This program was inspired by 3 main drivers:
- my ♥ for wellness
- my first-hand ability to see the increase in chronic conditions & the true need of a robust nutrition program for all (no barriers!)
- my entrepreneurial drive to inspire/collaborate with other wellness professionals/enthusiasts so that I can help them take control of their business & not feel out of their “scope of practice.
This was my “ahhhhh haaaa” moment.
It became my mission to bridge this gap for the clients and for my fellow wellness professionals.
The 28 Day Ultimate Whole Foods Refresh was born!
To properly develop this program in a self-led format, I’ve extracted core nutrition concepts while also taking into account that people have different needs and food preferences. I encourage you to ask questions, get those in your “circle” involved, explore our recipes and fuel your body with whole foods that you love.
Is supplementation necessary? I get asked this question all the time and the short answer is YES! Even if you eat a “healthy” diet, it’s not really about what you eat…it’s more about what you digest & absorb. In our modern world, we have some barriers to getting all the nutrients our bodies crave. Depleted soils, increased import/exported produce, pesticides, processed foods, high stress levels, increased chronic conditions/gut issues and high levels of inflammation -just to name a few. Many of the chronic conditions that we see today interfere with nutrient absorptions, so in essence it would be silly of me as a practitioner to not recommend certain supplements for optimal health – at any age & any stage.
